Have you ever noticed that organizations sometimes tend to underestimate what can really be done with your donations in one year and overestimate what they can do in 3, 5, 7 or even to years? As we end the year 2019, we are proud to take time to reflect on our work as an organization, PARTNERS FOR REAL CHANGE (PARC). We've asked ourselves, "Does our work matter?" PARTNERS FOR REAL CHANGE (PARC) is a non-profit organization (and a company limited by guarantee without share capital) that provides support to marginalized communities across the Rwenzori region of western Uganda. We have been operating in this community since our inception in 2003, and we are gradually expanding our programs to reach and benefit a wider community.

PARC is working so hard to ensure that all children access elementary education, through operating their own school (Shine Preparatory School), in combination with child sponsorship, student support, partnering with local schools, and twining schools around the world. The children of Shine School come from rural remote villages along the foothills of Rwenzoris in Kasese, Uganda. Many families in these villages served do not have the means to put their children through school.
SEEDLING OF CHANGE (SoC) under the Elementary Education programme is supporting PARC’s school for orphans and at-risk children – Shine Preparatory School (SPS). Shine Preparatory School is an educational center that was established in 2018 as a project of PARC with the goal to educate and support the disadvantaged children; orphans, and highly at-risk children such as children affected by chronic infections such as HIV, children living in households headed by young and elderly people, children from families with larger numbers of immediate children (great children burden), and the children of the community living in abject poverty. Education is the most powerful tool that can lift people out of poverty, transforming communities anywhere around the world. Reducing poverty is key to sustainable development! Education fosters economic development and reduces the gap between the rich and the poor, and it encourages social cohesion and arguably world peace. PARC tries to support the most vulnerable children through education, helping them to get the most from their time at school and providing a foundation for a productive and happy future. Every penny of sponsorship money goes straight to the children - no administrative costs are taken from the sponsorship money. Just about twenty dollars a month is not much money when you consider it educates, feeds, and cares for a child every month. We hope you will consider partnering with us through the sponsorship program.
PARC is looking for ways the community can be sustainable – and indeed, Shine Preparatory School (SPS) alongside training in entrepreneurship, job skills, micro-financing and investing in local businesses and healthcare can create very positive long-term change. Above all, we create a cycle of success by encouraging the children we support, to use their education and leadership skills to give back to their communities.
