Solomon is 14½ years old and he is in primary five, he goes to “Madera Boys Primary” school in Soroti. He comes from Aloet village where the cow and poultry projects are based. He has improved in his class work and he likes Math and SST and sometimes he tries with English and Science and when asked on what he wants to become, he says he wants to become a teacher.

Solomon plays football and athletics. While at home Solomon helps with the cow and poultry project. During holidays he helps take the cows to graze and drink water at the stream. He also helps with some domestic work like washing dishes, fetching water from the spring well, gardening and ploughing with the oxen.
Solomon’s mother Teddy Akodo does garden work all her life for sustainability. She is also the chairperson of the women group supported by Seedlings of Change Africa Women Development Efforts Organization (EWEDO) in Soroti. They appreciate the support Eveline and Seedlings of Change is giving them. With the cow project they are able to get milk and some little money from the sales which they use for buying soap, sugar, salt, paraffin, and other essential household commodities. Thank you so much Seedlings of Change for the great help and we pray you continue supporting us.

THOMAS is 10 years old and he is in Primary Four.  He lives with Yusuf and Jane they both go to the same school “Favour Nursery and Primary”.  Thomas aspires to become a business man or a banker with a lot of money so that he can build for his mother, Jane a house and have a car!  Jane struggles with earning enough money to support her family and she is currently very sick and she is being treated for her health but is very weak. They live in the suburbs of Soroti town called Orwadai.

Jane was helping with the sewing and knitting project and sometimes she would go to the local markets to sell the products created from the sewing machines until she fell sick. She is sole bread winner in the home without her ability to work the family often goes hungry; they only have one meal a day. When the children are in school the whole day this relieves her a little. Otherwise Jane is very grateful for the support Seedlings of Change always extent to her and her family.

EMILY ASAO
Emily Asao is 4 years old and goes to “Rainbow Nursery” school in Soroti, she is in middle class. She is second born among the three kids; all three children are girls. Currently Emily is living with her aunt in Pamba near Soroti town.  Emily’s aunt is also not able to take care of all her children so when she asked me about possibility of support Seedlings of Change accepted to help Emily through contributions toward the Education Project in Uganda.  Thank you for this my dear friends because if it wasn’t for your continuous support these children wouldn't be able to attend school.

Yusuf is 7 years old and he goes to “Favour Nursery and Primary” school in Soroti.  This year he was able to graduate and was promoted to “Primary” one class. Yusuf is doing well in school despite the many challenges they are facing as a family. Yusuf leaves for school in the morning at 7 am and returns home at 5 pm in the evening. He has his meals at school then they have afternoon and evening lessons. Yusuf’s best subjects are Math, English, Science and Social studies.

Yusuf likes playing football, rolling car tires around the compound, bicycle riding, climbing trees looking for fruits like mangoes and oranges, and helping with the project goats tying them in the field so that they are able to eat grass.

Yusuf wants to become a Doctor and when he is asked why he wants to become a doctor, he says so that he may treat his mother. Yusuf’s mother is sickly and whenever she falls very sick Yusuf stays home to look after her. I have advised Jane, Yusuf’s mother not to let him stay at home when other children are going to school because this will make him fail his exams.

Benjamin
Benjamin is 5 years old. He celebrated his 5th birthday on the 17th of June 2016 at his school. He goes to school at “Happy Kiddies” in Kampala where he is now in middle class. I transferred him from “Favour Nursery” in Soroti to Kampala where I felt he would get a better education. At first I thought he would find it difficult to catch up but to my surprise he is able to catch up with the standard of Kampala schools which teach totally different things compared to Soroti Schools.
